eMerge Media Space

The eMerge Media Space is managed by a committee from the School of Creative Arts at James Cook University and is an integral part of the SoCA complex reflecting the school’s pursuit of artistic innovation and academic rigour while contributing significantly to the function and ambiance of the complex’s built environment.

The gallery will enlist the broadest range of disciplines within the evolving context of contemporary new media art and will operate a best practice model, while providing for the community opportunities and experiences of emerging digital arts cultures, generating tangible inroads to theoretical investigation and interpretation.

Through informed curatorial authorship the eMerge Media Space seeks to attract emerging artists and academics to develop and exhibit work which operates at the most innovative junctions of the electronic / the digital / the networked space / the performance space / the screen / and the interfaces of contemporary new media art.
