The Araca Group
Igniting the live entertainment experience.
The Araca Group is an entrepreneurial tribe of dedicated trailblazers who live and breathe live entertainment onstage and beyond.
As theatrical producers, our mission is to produce entertainment that is artistically compelling to our audiences and financially successful to our investors. As screen printers and merchandisers, our mission is to design and manufacture singular, fashionable products that generate significant profit for our clients while supporting their marketing strategies throughout the world.
Founded in 1997 by partners Matthew Rego, Michael Rego, and Hank Unger, The Araca Group started as three guys with a dream - a dream to produce theatre commercially in New York City. What started in a one-room, windowless office in Times Square has grown into a renowned theatrical production, screen printing, and merchandise company with over 250 dedicated employees and operations around the world.
On Stage
The Araca Group launched with a simple mission: to produce commercially the work of emerging playwrights Off and Off-Off-Broadway. We soon established a reputation as a leading theatrical production company. Our inaugural Broadway undertaking, the critically acclaimed Urinetown The Musical!, received dozens of major awards including three Tonys.
Next came the hit Broadway premiere of Terrence McNally's Frankie and Johnny: In the Clair de Lune starring Edie Falco and Stanley Tucci. The Araca Group co-produced the blockbuster new musical Wicked, with continuing productions on Broadway, across the nation and around the world.
Recent Broadway credits include productions of Arthur Miller's A View from the Bridge starring Liev Schrieber and Scarlett Johansson, Lend Me a Tenor starring Anthony LaPaglia and Tony Shalhoub, and the '80s rock musical Rock of Ages.
...And Beyond
A lifetime of working in a family supermarket business gave the founding partners a unique perspective of retail operations. As we vertically integrated our theatrical production company - expanding from producers to marketers, general managers, accounting - we ultimately found our niche as live entertainment producers, merchandisers and screen printers.
Araca is now the largest screen printing and merchandising company on Broadway and strives to transform the live entertainment experience with innovative apparel, souvenirs and licensed products. By incorporating design, manufacturing, warehousing, as well as in-venue and online retail operations, The Araca Group sets the new benchmark in entertainment merchandise.
