Sydney College of the Arts (SCA) is the Visual Arts Faculty of the University of Sydney. SCA provides innovative programs that prepare students with the conceptual and technical skills to establish a career as a contemporary visual artist.
Since joining the University, SCA has continued to grow as a premier provider of visual arts education in Australia and internationally. Staff members are of the highest calibre and enjoy national and international research reputations as practitioners and writers. As part of one of the world's foremost research-intensive universities, we are proud to be able to apply the benefits of our own practices directly into learning and teaching at all levels, from first year through to PhD.
SCA offers an exciting range of programs at undergraduate, master's and doctoral levels that reflect its mission to provide a vibrant and conceptually coherent coverage of subjects relevant to international contemporary arts. SCA has a prestigious history of educating many of Australia's most successful contemporary visual artists, helping them to realise their aspirations and develop their communication, intellectual and cultural skills. In fact, we have been delivering learning and teaching of the highest quality across all our specialist areas for more than 30 years - and we boast an impressive list of movers and shakers in the art world here and overseas as graduates and staff. These include artist Shaun Gladwell, photographer Rosemary Laing, photomedia artist Anne Zahalka, filmmaker Jane Campion and designer Marc Newson.
You'll benefit from the world-class studio facilities on our dedicated campus that overlooks Sydney Harbour at Iron Cove, supported by top-class technical assistance and a comprehensive digital infrastructure. SCA is housed in the historic Kirkbride buildings in Rozelle, a Victorian neo-classic complex with well-lit and airy buildings opening onto verandas that link our numerous courtyards.
