The Arts Health Institute believes that the arts enrich our lives and when we are ill or infirm we need creative engagement more than ever. We bring creativity to care by playfully integrating the arts into the health and aged care communities to enable life changing arts programs in hospitals, aged care facilities and in the general community. The AHI provides education for professional artists and health workers and programs that are designed to foster positive interaction between staff and clients and their families.

The Arts Health Institute is a flag-bearer for the integration of arts into the health and aged care sectors.
Research shows arts based programs can have therapeutic benefits and improve the experience of receiving health care. Those connected with the arts while in care often show enhanced motivation, a reduced sense of isolation and anxiety and, increased confidence, sociability and self-esteem.

The Arts Health Institute connects the arts and health in Australia by providing education and training to artists and healthcare workers.
This enables both groups to work together to deliver life-changing arts programs in hospitals
and aged care facilities in the community and, through home visits around the country.

The Institute educates both artists and health professionals in innovative arts initiatives that are specifically tailored to help individuals who are unwell or frail. Fostering human connection, laughter and unique experiences, the Arts Health Institute programs engage and stimulate individuals rather than providing traditional entertainment usually performed in larger groups.
